JESUS THE GREAT SANCTIFIER- Wednesday 7th August 2013- Pst E.A Adeboye

JESUS THE GREAT SANCTIFIER- Wednesday 7th August 2013

1 Thess 5:22-23

When you are genuinely saved, you stop thinking of what Jesus can do for you but start asking what I can do for this Jesus. When you note how close you are to hell before your soul is saved you will not be asking God for more but Lord what can I do for you.

When Saul (Paul) had an encounter with Jesus, one of his first questions is “what will you have me do?” Acts 9:1- 6. As a fool heading for hell, Lord you saved me, so, what can I do for my Jesus who saved me? I can’t just keep my mouth shut, this Jesus saved my soul.

What shall I render to my God?
When we first gave our life to Jesus, we always volunteer to work for Him, spirit, soul and body spending money, time and energy.

When you are genuinely saved you can’t but think of restitution. How many damages can I put right again? Luke 19: 9-10
When you are genuinely saved if you had served the devil before, you want to serve God in a greater proportion. Luke 7: 37-47

QUESTION: Can something be more horrible than being a sinner?

Yes. To be an ex-saved, to be a backslider.

There is no such thing as once saved, forever saved.

Examples: Philemon 24. Demas, 2 Tim 4:10 Demas has forsaken Paul, having loved this present world.
Backsliding is considered as a dog going back to its vomit.
Luke 15: 11-32. The prodigal son became an ex-rich, became a companion of pigs.
Samson lost it, David lost it at a point. That is why you need SANCTIFICATION.
Jeremiah 17:9, Matthew 15: 19-20, Prov 4: 23
The heart of man is desperately wicked who can know it? The heart is deceitful. From the heart proceeds evil thoughts, murder, immoral thought etc.

So, though you are born again, you still find in your heart evil thought, God decided to step in and help solve the problem. He said I will give you a new heart. Eze 36: 24-26

God decided to perform an operation, a divine operation. But for a new heart there must be a donor. The donor will have to be somebody who probably had an accident and had no chance for survival at all.
Jesus made a new heart available. He said Father, into your hands I commit my spirit, I hereby make my heart available for my friends.

WHAT ARE THE EVIDENCES OF SANCTIFICATION?

Philippians 2: 5-8
1.       You begin to think like Jesus. Acts 7: 59-60. Stephen prayed like Jesus prayed, Father, don’t hold this sin against them
2.       You become humble, truly humble, when you get this heart, you won’t even recognize yourself.
3.       You can’t have this heart and be disobedient. Jesus became obedient to death. Acts 21: 8-14
4.       You have a meek and lowly heart. Not a weak heart. You have tremendous power, but not to destroy.
5.       You have a pure heart. Mat 5: 48 you become perfect like your heavenly father.

PROCEDURE TO HAVE A NEW HEART

1.       Agree that it is possible to live holy. God can’t ask you for what you cannot do. 1 Pet 1: 15-16
2.       Admit it is possible to be 100% holy. You can’t have 70% holiness. You mean I can’t have a little anger, no sir.
3.       Admit you can’t do it on your own. John 15:5
4.       Go to Jesus the sanctifier.
To have a heart transplant, the doctor first clean you up, puts you to sleep, deep sleep. Gen 2: 21-22. Likewise, for Jesus to perform a heart operation on you there must be absolute surrender, a total surrender of yourself. You give your spirit, soul and body to Him and saying Lord, there is no looking back now. You call upon Him, Lord, dig out this stony heart and put a heart of flesh.

Before I had a new heart, I find it difficult to weep. I had a father that loved me so much, did everything to make sure I go to school, and sold everything he had to give me education. But when he died, I wished I could weep, but I didn’t. A stony heart indeed.

But when I gave my life to Jesus and I cried to Him for a new heart, He gave me. Such that when I looked at the congregation and I saw a woman weeping, I will also begin to weep. He gave me a heart of flesh.
To have this new heart, you must be saved first allow the Blood of Jesus to wash you clean from your sins. Then surrender absolutely and totally.

PRAYER POINT:
Father, I surrender completely, take the heart  of stone out of me, give me a heart of flesh, sanctify me wholly, body, soul and spirit, let me live a life of absolute holiness, I lay myself on the altar now.

THE SAVIOUR

Mat 1:21

Many do not realise the horrors of sin, so they toy with it. Rom 6: 23
This is not just physical death, but then in every form, physical, emotional, marital etc.
One penalty for sin is death. God’s penalty for sin is death, not 3 months imprisonment, not 5 years imprisonment but death.

John 5:2-14. What can sin bring into a man’s life?
This man tried 38 times to be healed and failed. Jesus told the man, go and sin no more lest a worse thing happen to you.

Look at what sin had done to the man.

He was a living dead, not buried but useless.
Stagnant life, no progress
He was in bondage because of sin and hopeless.

This man was defeated 38 times, lonely and forsaken
He must have been a sad man. Psalm 16: 4
Struggling for survival. Job 15: 20

Sin is horrible, that is why there is joy in salvation.
All the devastation of sin can be reversed in one day
The man was healed and forgiven. He stopped failing, hope came, peace came and joy into his life. 1 Pet 2: 24

You should know that the devil is a bad master. Rev 12:11 But they overcame him by the blood of the lamb.
For 13 years I was running away from home because of witches and wizards, till I met Jesus. When Jesus comes, you receive peace,. Isa 48: 22. John 14: 27

Prov. 28:13. If you continue to cover your sin, you cannot prosper.

There can be no salvation without genuine repentance. Luke 13: 2-5, 2 Pet 3: 9

You will become a new creation completely. With a change inside-out. 2 Cor 7: 10, 2 Cor 5: 17

When a man comes to me and ask what can I see about his future. I simply ask him if he is a child of God. If he said no, I will tell him, Isaiah 3: 10-11 says you should tell the righteous, it shall be well with him.

But when you are not a child of God, it shall be ill with you. There is no future for you unless you become a child of God.

The choice is yours.
