BIBLE IN A YEAR: Matt. 1-4

INSTANT CHANGE
Tuesday, February 23, 2010

MEMORIZE: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new” (2 Cor. 5:17)

READ: 2 Corinthians 5:14-17

Some families are so favored that if God wants to pick three people for a special assignment, two would be taken from that family. This year, God will favor your family in Jesus’ Name. When Jesus selected Peter, James and John to go with Him to the mount of Transfiguration, He kept them in suspense. They had no pre- knowledge of what to expect. When they got to the top of the mountain, the One they had always known and fellowshipped with suddenly became somebody else.

The transfiguration experience was very unique: It was instant just like the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost in Acts 2:1-4. It was also silent; there were no thunder blasts. It was also a total experience as both the body, face, clothes of the Lord were transformed. When you encounter the Lord Jesus Christ at salvation, it affects every part of you (2 Cor. 5:17).

One of my sons named Bro Moses, was once an impossible character. He was so vile and unruly that during the holidays, parents would keep their children under lock and key at home. Why? He could have sex with anything even dogs and chickens. But when he met with Jesus, he experienced a complete change to the extent that he became a preacher.

Those who were acquainted with his past life-style found it difficult to believe. If you were on the same taxi cab with him, you would be compelled to accept Christ before disembarking. The zeal of the Lord was so much in him that he needed no one to push him to evangelize or read his Bible. Even while going into the toilet, he went with his Bible.

Instant salvation is delivered to you anywhere you are the moment you satisfy Heaven’s requirements. Recognize you are a sinner, confess your sins to God, forsake them and invite Jesus Christ into your heart. Be determined not to return to your sinful past. Daily trust in the Lord for grace to overcome sin.

Cultivate a personal relationship with Him and daily study and obey the Bible. As long as you are sincere with that sinner’s prayer, you will experience instant salvation. Some people who claim to be born again are yet to witness a commensurate change in their likes, dislikes and conduct in general. If you are born again, your old ways would go. Are your old ways still there or are they rearing their ugly heads?

ACTION POINT:
Some people experienced instant changes at new birth, only to drop them later in life. Ask God to make every positive change you have experienced permanent.

In the dark?- Open heavens devotional by Pastor E.A Adeboye

BIBLE IN A YEAR: Prov. 29-31

IN THE DARK?
Monday, February 22, 2010

MEMORIZE: “They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man” (Job 12:25)

READ: Job 12:19-25

According to John 1:3, everything was created by Jesus Christ, including darkness. He is the Creator and darkness is just one of His creation and whatever is created cannot be greater than the One who created it. This is one reason light will always have supremacy over darkness. And when you receive Jesus into your heart, and His light radiates in and around you, darkness will bow to you just the way it bows to Jesus Christ its Creator.

“They looked unto him, and were lightened: and their faces were not ashamed” (Ps. 34:5). Whenever the darkness of shame lurks around, just look to Him. Feast on His Word. Meditate on His word. Take your gaze off everything else and be focussed on Him. His light will shine on you and as soon as shame sees it, it will take cover. Is shame on the prowl around you? The light of His presence will drive it far away from you today. Every yoke of shame is broken now. Because your face is on the Lord Jesus, you shall have honor instead of shame.

As long as you are looking at Jesus Christ, you will be surrounded by His light and darkness will keep its distance from you. However, when you withdraw or switch of light, darkness will reign. This means every time you quench the Spirit or grieve Him through disobedience or indulgence in sin, that is an open invitation to darkness. Job 12:25 says, “They grope in the dark without light, and he maketh them to stagger like a drunken man”.

Anyone who forsakes Christ has no option but to grope in the dark. Are you turning down God’s express leading concerning your marriage partner, business, career or ministry? You cannot avoid groping in the dark. Do you disrespect, neglect or insult your parents - biological or spiritual? It will erode your sight and land you in darkness (Prov. 20:20). There are some people who have found it difficult to receive direction in life.

They have continued to beat about the bush. Sometimes, what they need to do is just by their side but they are never able to see it or sense it because they have breached God’s Word concerning relation with parents. Are you in any of these? Repent and make right your ways. Go and reconcile with your parents, take care of them and receive their blessing for the tide to turn in your favor.

ACTION POINT:
Ask God to replace every shade of darkness in your life and circumstance with His Light.

FEBRUARY 2010 PRAYER POINTS

FEBRUARY 2010 PRAYER POINTS FOR COVENANT PARTNERS

“…Believe in the LORD your God, so shall ye be established; believe his prophets, so shall ye prosper”. (2Ch 20:20)
“For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost” (2Pe 1:21)
“We must pray against natural disasters that are gathering momentum" is one of the prophecies that God declared for all nations through our Father in the Lord, Daddy E. A. Adeboye, at the dawn of the New Year 2010. The attention of the entire world was shifted towards this prophecy on the 12th of January, barely two weeks after its pronouncement, when the entire city of Port-au-Prince in Haiti got buried by an Earthquake of 7.0 magnitudes.
According to a report by the European Union Commission, the quake killed an estimated 200,000 people in Haiti; left 250,000 injured and made 1.5 million homeless!
Nationally and internationally, the events witnessed from the 1st of January 2010 up till date speak volumes of the need for intensive prayers as directed in the prophecies.
Therefore, for our Covenant Prayer and Fasting in February 2010, the prophecies for the year as declared by our Daddy, the General Overseer, will form the prayer points. PROPHECIES FOR THE YEAR 2010

PROPHECIES FOR THE YEAR 2010 AS GIVEN BY PASTOR E.A ADEBOYE, THE GENERAL OVERSEER OF THE REDEEMED CHRISTIAN CHURCH OF GOD.

FOR INDIVIDUAL
Stay under cover of the most high to avoid any storm that may come.
There will be miraculous deliverance for some, particularly from accident.
There will be some unexpected promotions and open doors.
He says the second half of this year will be better than the first, although there will be galloping blessing from the very first day for some.

FOR NIGERIA
Pray for those who are in authority , that they will not abuse the constitution in order to avoid its suspension
Intensive prayers are required to arrest backward sliding.

FOR INTERNATIONAL
The Lord says you should pray against outbreak of killer disease.
Recovery from recession will be slow but steady.
We must pray against natural disasters that are gathering momentum.

FOR RCCG
He said death will be few this year, but there will be some uprooting of plants that are not planted by God.
He said there will be many miraculous recoveries in answer to prayers, but unrepentant sinners will contact incurable disease.
He said an old star will shine brighter.
He said many young stars will emerge.
He said intensive corporate worship, will move the church on to greater height under open heavens.
The Lord asks me to warn the youth; particularly against late night and keeping the company of doubtful character. (The reason He asked me to warn the youth is that; He is going to visit those people with doubtful character, so that the youth will not be caught in the wild fire).
